Safety Bike Servicing Overview
Our bike safety service is great for all bikes that need minor tweaks and adjustments. Is your bike is only a few months old? or has been it ridden a few hundred miles? Let’s say your bike has been sat in the shed for a while everything has dried up, the bike chain is dry and chain links are stiff, the headset feels a little stiff. Could your brakes be better? All Bike Brakes are not as effective when the brake lever returns to close to the bar, do your gears not change up or down properly as good as they once did? Are the bike tyres splitting or showing cracks?
What Do We Service?
Frame/fork
- Bike frame checked for cracks, alignment issues and general damage that might affect riding
- Forks are checked for cracks, alignment issues, oil leaks and general normal operation where applicable
- Suspension fork/shock Internal servicing is not included within bike service plans, please see Suspension fork/shock servicing
- Pivot frames bearings generally found on full suspension bikes are not changed/serviced, please see Frame pivot servicing
Brake System
- Brakes systems are adjusted and brake pads wear levels are checked
- Brakes tested for noise and fouling rim/tyres or bent disc rotors where applicable
Gear System/Chainset/Bottom Bracket
- Gears will be adjusted to make sure they index correctly.
- Adjust high and low stop screws to make sure rear and front derailleur stop at correct limits and don’t jump off a higher cog or lower cog.
- Freehub/Freewheel/Cassette checked for wear and play.
- Chainset inspected for bent chainrings, missing teeth, wear and general operation.
- Chain inspected for wear and stretch, tight links and general damage.
- Bottom Bracket checked for wear and play, lack of grease and general noise when cycling.
Tyres/Wheels
- Inflated to correct pressure for your bike and your riding style.
- Checked for wear, cracks in sidewall and seating on the wheel.
- Wheel rims are checked for any wear, cracks or dents.
- Spokes checked for correct tension for a true wheel.
- Cones checked for play and smooth operation.
- Wheels bearings are checked.
- Wheel axles checked.
Headset
- Headset Bearings will be serviced and checked.
- Checked for head shake/play and general noise and feel when cycling.
Nuts/bolts/Accessories/Other Fixings
Torque settings for nuts and bolts are checked. Also checking any bike accessories like panniers, lights, stands, mirrors and so on to make sure nothing is fouling any other of the bike components and they are fitted correctly.
Post Service Test Ride
All bikes I service are given a short test ride to confirm your bike is working as it should under normal riding conditions.
Premium Bike Servicing Overview
This is our most thorough bike service that pays attention to the gear system, has been put together for customers bikes that need a little more than a safety service. You’ll get all the same service qualities from the “safety bike service” but the entire gear system gets removed and degreased and cleaned.
Includes Safety Service Options PLUS:
GEAR SYSTEM/CHAINSET/BOTTOM BRACKET
- Bike gear system is removed fully degreased and cleaned in our parts washer re-fitted and oils / lubes applied to suit the bike and your riding style.
Premium Plus Servicing Overview
This bike service plan is the most thorough bike servicing plan we offer and the bike is fully stripped down and re-built. If you love your bike you will love this service. Featuring all the same service qualities from the “Premium bike service” and with some nice extra’s thrown in.

Bike Servicing Options
My Bike Feels Ok To Ride?
Of course bike servicing is very important! For bikes to run smooth problem free your bike will need regular servicing even if it feels OK to ride at the moment. Additionally, bike servicing is not the same as bike repairs.
Keeping a bike in tip-top condition from the start will cause less wear and tear on components, a serviced bike will let you down less often. Once Bike repairs direct has completed a bike service your bike is much safer to ride than one that has had no servicing since new.
How Often To Service Your Bike?
Does your bike feel OK to ride? Have you put a fair few miles in? Firstly, our bike servicing should be a routine you stick too, by doing this you put your bike and yourself at less risk of anything going wrong. Secondly, I often see bikes with very loose nuts and bolts, frayed cables, stretched chains, worn cassettes and so on, yet the owner has no idea that the bars could turn, a wheel could slip out of the frame, or a tyre pressure is so low the tyres are splitting.
